A new executive order from the Biden administration revokes the WeChat and TikTok orders and other communications and financial technology software applications.

Senior administration officials said,

President Joe Biden is revoking bans on the Chinese-owned apps TikTok and WeChat today. Instead, review of software applications from foreign adversaries could pose a risk to Americans' sensitive data.

Biden has directed Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo to evaluate the apps and block the ones which pose security risks.

The order will replace former President Donald Trump's order, which tried to ban the use of those apps in the US of the Chinese companies, including ByteDance Ltd. and Tencent Holdings Ltd., the tech companies challenged the order.
